Concrete Repair & Restoration
Don't replace when you can repair. We fix cracks, restore surfaces, and extend the life of your concrete.

Not all concrete problems require complete replacement. Cracks, surface damage, settling, and deterioration can often be repaired at a fraction of the cost of tearing out and replacing. The key is knowing when repair makes sense and when replacement is the better investment.
We've been repairing and restoring concrete throughout Woodland, Davis, and surrounding areas since 2024. We'll give you an honest assessment of your concrete's condition. If we can fix it effectively, we'll tell you how. If replacement makes more sense, we'll explain why. At BMT Woodland Concrete, we're interested in long-term solutions, not just quick fixes.
Common Concrete Problems We Fix
Concrete fails for specific reasons. Understanding what caused the damage helps us choose the right repair method so the problem doesn't come back.
Cracks
Small hairline cracks are normal and mostly cosmetic. Wider cracks that move or grow over time need attention. We repair cracks by cleaning them out, filling with appropriate materials, and sometimes applying epoxy or polyurethane injection for structural cracks. The repair method depends on crack width, location, and whether the crack is still moving.
Settling and Uneven Surfaces
When concrete slabs settle or heave, you get uneven surfaces and trip hazards. Sometimes we can lift and level settled concrete using modern mudjacking or polyurethane foam injection. This costs much less than replacement and can be done in a few hours. Other times, removing and replacing the settled section is more practical.
Surface Deterioration
Concrete surfaces can pit, flake, or deteriorate from weather exposure, de-icing chemicals, or poor initial installation. We can resurface damaged concrete with overlays, repair compounds, or specialized coatings that restore appearance and protect the surface underneath.
Spalling and Exposed Aggregate
When the top layer of concrete breaks away, exposing the aggregate underneath, it's called spalling. This happens from freeze-thaw cycles, poor finishing, or moisture problems. We repair spalled areas by removing loose material and applying bonded overlays or repair mortars that match the existing surface.
Our Repair Process
Successful concrete repair starts with proper diagnosis. We inspect your concrete to identify:
- What caused the damage in the first place
- Whether the problem is still progressing or has stabilized
- If the underlying base is sound or compromised
- Whether drainage issues contributed to the failure
- The overall condition of surrounding concrete
Based on this assessment, we recommend repair methods that address both the visible damage and the underlying cause. Just filling a crack doesn't help if the base underneath is still settling. We fix the root problem so repairs last.
When to Repair vs. Replace
Repair makes sense when the concrete is structurally sound but has surface damage, isolated cracks, or minor settling. You can often save 50 to 70 percent compared to replacement. Repairs also cause less disruption and can usually be completed faster.
Replacement is better when you have extensive cracking, major settling, failed base preparation, or when repair costs approach replacement costs. Sometimes a new driveway or patio gives you another 30 years of life, while repairs might only buy you 5 to 10 years. We'll help you understand the economics so you can make the right decision.
Partial Replacement Options
You don't always have to replace entire driveways or patios. We can often remove and replace specific sections while leaving good concrete in place. Control joints allow us to cut out damaged areas and tie in new concrete that blends reasonably well. This saves money while still addressing the problem areas effectively.
Preventive Maintenance and Sealing
The best repair is preventing damage in the first place. Regular maintenance extends concrete life significantly. This includes sealing every few years to protect against moisture, stains, and surface deterioration. Keep drainage working properly so water doesn't pool or wash out the base. Address small cracks before they become big problems.
We offer sealing and maintenance services for driveways, patios, walkways, and other concrete surfaces. A little proactive care saves expensive repairs down the road. Think of it like changing your oil versus rebuilding your engine.
